The paper belongs to the neat field of combinatorial game theory. It's based (very loosely) on research that I started at RSI, but it was mostly done in the month or two after the program ended. If you're interested, here is the version I entered in the 2002-3 Siemens Westinghouse Competition (in which it won first prize and $103,000), and here is the version I entered in the 2003 Intel Science Talent Search (in which it was a "finalist", meaning top 40 but not top 10).
